MB25 Bluetooth Transceiver can be used to add to Bluetooth streaming to many vintage audio products including this McIntosh MA6100 Integrated Amplifier from the 1970s.
Designed as a compact, standalone unit with a relatively small footprint, the MB25 requires no third-party apps for operation, ensuring a hassle-free experience. Functioning as a transmitter/receiver, it boasts Class 1 Bluetooth technology, delivering unparalleled connectivity with audio equipment lacking Bluetooth compatibility. With a transmission range of up to 150 feet (45.7 meters)1 and enhanced by an external antenna, the MB25 guarantees optimal performance for both transmitting and receiving audio signals.

HELPFUL AUDIO SIGNAL INFORMATION
The successor to the popular MB20, the MB25 retains all the MB20 features while introducing enhancements for an elevated user experience. Notable among its upgrades is an illuminated front glass panel that provides insights into audio signal rates and connection types. The MB25 also offers the flexibility to select the desired input in transmit mode, giving you greater control over your audio experience. Finally, Power Control has been added so it can be easily turned on and off with the rest of your system.

When used in Transmit mode, the input name and any applicable signal rate will be displayed on the left side of the front panel, while the connection type will be shown on the right side.

ABUNDANT CONNECTIVITY
Remarkably versatile, the MB25 features an array of inputs and outputs to allow for diverse system configurations. Analog connectivity options include both balanced and unbalanced stereo inputs and outputs. For digitally connecting it to your system, such as for use with an outboard Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC), it has both coaxial and optical inputs and outputs (Note: the MB25 cannot be used as a stand-alone Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC).2

BLUETOOTH 5.0 TECHNOLOGY
Leveraging Bluetooth 5.0 technology, the MB25 supports high-fidelity codecs such as Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) and Qualcomm® aptX™ HD, ensuring uncompromised audio reproduction. Equipped with a high-performance 32-bit DAC for receiver mode and a premium Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for transmitter mode, the MB25 maintains uncompromising sound quality and signal integrity.

ULTIMATE CONVENIENCE: RECEIVE OR TRANSMIT
As a transceiver, the MB25 can function as either a Bluetooth Receiver or Transmitter (but not both at the same time). Simply set the switch on the back panel to the proper setting for the desired usage. In Receiver mode, you can stream audio from compatible Bluetooth devices to the MB25, and then use the variety of output connections to play the audio through your sound system. Alternatively, in Transmitter mode, you can stream the music from physical media sources, such as CDs or vinyl records, to Bluetooth-enabled headphones or speakers.
 

In Receiver mode there will be a blue LED above the Pair button, while it will be green in Transmitter mode.

For multi-system integration within the home, the MB25 offers a convenient solution to enable wireless audio distribution between systems with ease by simply connecting an MB25 to each system.1 If you already have an MB20, then it can be used in conjunction with an MB25 to achieve this multi-room, multi-system configuration.

Encased in a sleek, custom aluminum chassis with a black glass front panel with illuminated logo, the MB25 exudes sophistication. 8 BANDS OF CONTROL
At the heart of the MQ112 lies an 8-band analog equalizer (also called a stereo equalizer) that allows you to increase or decrease the levels of the audio signal at 8 key bands in the 25Hz – 10kHz audio frequency range. Think of it as a sonic sculptor that allows you to finely tune the audio signal. With an impressive ±12dB range of adjustment for each band, you can easily cope with any sound challenge. The MQ112 is the solution you need to enhance or subdue particular instrument ranges or voice types, transforming your listening experience.

The TILT knob, with its subtle tonal balance shift of ±6dB, allows you to customize your sound further. Boost the bass while reducing treble, or vice versa – the choice is yours. The EQ Control knob’s IN and OUT settings let you bypass the entire equalizer circuit so you compare the adjusted sound to the original, unaltered version, ensuring you achieve the perfect audio profile. The equalizer can also be triggered IN or OUT using the rear panel’s EQ Control Trigger, giving you seamless control over when the MQ112 works its magic. Also, by using one of the programmable triggers in the audio system’s preamplifier, the EQ can be switched IN or OUT depending on input or amplifier choice. Crafted with precision and versatility, the MQ112 boasts remarkably low noise circuits and minimal distortion, harmonizing seamlessly with high-performance audio systems.

VERSATILE AUDIO SYSTEM COMPONENT
Both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs are included on the versatile MQ112, making it easy to add it to your stereo system: simply place it between the preamplifier and power amplifier(s) and connect them all together using the inputs and outputs of your choice. The input type you use does not have to match the output type; for example, you could connect a preamplifier (or another audio component with volume control like some CD Players) via the unbalanced inputs, but then connect the MQ112 to your power amplifier(s) with balanced cables via the balanced outputs. The MQ112 can also be used with integrated amplifiers, provided the integrated amp has removable jumpers so the preamplifier section can be disconnected from the power amplifier section.

The versatility of the MQ112 is further evident in its second pair of outputs, which opens a world of possibilities for enjoying your music. You can play the same music through a separate stereo system in another room, bi-amp a single pair of speakers for optimal sound control, or connect a subwoofer for that extra bass punch.

For subwoofers without stereo inputs, the second output on the MQ112 can be set to MONO; two subwoofers can also be connected this way. In more intricate systems, the MQ112 can be connected through PROCESSOR loops and TAPE MONITOR record/play connections found on many preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers.

We custom designed and manufactured the output transformers to match the tube amplifier section to the headphone output section in order to ensure maximum power transfer for various headphone loads. Instead of having to adapt to the impedance of the headphones with voltage gain in the input stage, the Unity Coupled Circuit output transformers” secondary windings ensure the full power of the MHA200 is available regardless of the impedance of your headphones. You can select the best impedance range for your headphones via the LOAD knob. The VOLUME knob allows the MHA200 to be connected directly to music sources that only have a fixed volume output without needing a preamplifier for volume control. Conversely, if you’re using a component with variable volume output, then the VOLUME knob should be set to the center Unity Gain point and the volume controlled by the variable output component.

It can quickly turn a vintage McIntosh system that you’ve treasured for decades, or a family heirloom system that you’ve inherited, into a modern home music system capable of playing the digital music stored on your phone, in your cloud accounts, or from your preferred streaming services. It is a small (its footprint not much bigger than a smartphone), stand-alone, complete Bluetooth streaming solution that does not require any third-party apps to use.

As a transmitter/receiver, the MB20 has been designed to provide a superior Bluetooth connection to audio equipment that lacks Bluetooth connectivity. As such, it has been engineered as a Class 1 Bluetooth device. Class 1 devices can typically operate at a range of up to 150 feet (45.7 meters)1 in ideal conditions with limited obstructions. As a Receiver, the MB20 employs an extremely sensitive receiver for better reception, even from Class 2 devices, with the maximum range determined by the capabilities of both actively paired devices. An external antenna helps maximize its range for better performance. As a Transmitter, it has a range 10x greater than that of a typical Class 2 Bluetooth device.

inputs and outputs to connect it to your home audio system – most notably amongst them being balanced inputs and outputs, making it one of the only Bluetooth transmitter receivers to offer these superior audio connections that help deliver top-quality audio performance. For connecting it to your system via analog cables, it includes 1 stereo set of both balanced and unbalanced inputs, along with a stereo set of balanced and unbalanced outputs. For digitally connecting it to your system, such as for use with an outboard Digital-to-Analog Convertor (DAC), it has 1 each of both coaxial and optical inputs and outputs.2

The MB20 uses Bluetooth® 5.0 with support for both the high bitrate Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) standard as well as Qualcomm® aptX™ HD for hi res audio playback. It also features Qualcomm aptX Low Latency for improved audio transmission speed to deliver sound in sync with applicable visual media. When used as a Receiver, the MB20 uses a high-performance 32-bit DAC with 192kHz internal processing for optimum sound quality; when used in combination with a separate outboard DAC, the MB20’s digital output is fixed at 96kHz to be compatible with most third-party DACs in order to maximize performance and maintain audio signal integrity. When in Transmitter mode, it uses an equally capable high-performance Analog-to-Digital Convertor (ADC) with 110dB Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR).

It comes in a black, custom aluminum chassis with a black glass top panel, letting it fit right in with any McIntosh system. The MB20 will also work with any non-McIntosh home audio system that has the proper inputs and outputs. ​The MXA70 Integrated Audio System features a compact yet fully functional 50 watt stereo amplifier and a pair of specially designed 2-way desktop speakers.
