MASTER LINE SOURCE
The Master Line Source, the absolute flagship of the PIEGA loudspeakers, was produced over several years of development. It operates on the line source principle, which is considered by audio experts as the ideal transducer. All frequencies are radiated as coherent cylindrical sound waves. Thanks to the enormous membrane area of the line source loudspeaker, its sound producing area is considerably greater than with conventional loudspeakers and exhibits only extremely low distortion.

HIGHEST PRECISION
The entire baffle of the midrange panel is cut from one solid aluminium block offering outstanding stability and damping. The aluminium block consists of a special alloy
offering maximum rigidity and internal damping and is also
annealed in an hour long process to remove stresses. The entire cutting process for the baffles alone requires several hours as only this ensures the required precision.

METICULOUS WORKMANSHIP
The Master Line Source can only be produced from the meticulous workmanship of an experienced member of the PIEGA crew. A long wait time – untypical of PIEGA – for the delivery of these giants of sound is therefore not uncommon. The Master Line Source is produced at the company headquarters without haste and with a great deal of precision and value for the product.

UNIQUE RIBBON TECHNOLOGY
Our exceptional ribbon technology embodies decades of expertise and precise craftsmanship. The midrange tweeters, unsurpassed worldwide, are manufactured by hand in a highly complex procedure that requires nothing but perfection. With its level of detail and degree of efficiency, the ribbon clearly surpasses the performance of a conventional midrange or tweeter. Its excellent sound characteristics result from a wafer-thin aluminum foil diaphragm and several flat coils, which are etched out in a very complex spray-etching process. With a mere 20 μm thickness, the membrane acts as a voice coil and simultaneously as the actual driver. The moving mass, driven by the strongest neodymium magnets, is an ultra-light seven milligrams, creating unrivaled impulse behavior and superior resolution,

ACOUSTIC LENS WITH BACKWARD LAMELLAE
The acoustic lens contributes significantly to optimizing the acoustic properties. Due to its elaborate construction, the sound emitting backward is transformed into a diffuse sound field, producing a perfect soundscape even in acoustically challenging rooms. Using diffraction and reflection, the black-lacquered lamellae distribute the sounds evenly so that the speakers can be placed close to the wall or anywhere else in the room,

SYMMETRIC LINE SOURCE
Line source speakers, also known as line source drivers, carry music lovers with the highest demands off into an impressive sound universe. Compared to conventional loudspeakers, the sound waves of a line source driver expand vertically in a cylindrical shape. This characteristic allows the sounds of the mid and high ranges to reach the listener directly without being reflected from the ceiling or the floor. In addition, line sources have excellent impulse fidelity, allowing instruments to be reproduced in their full dynamic range and large orchestras to shine with authentic vigor. The symmetric array of the midrange also improves the horizontal radiation pattern and produces a more homogeneous soundstage,

TWEETER AND MIDRANGE COMBINED
For perfect harmony between all components, tweeter, and midrange have been arranged on one level. The MLS 3 features four meticulously handcrafted line source ribbons.

PRECISION BASS
Two 180 mm UHQD basses and two UHQD passive cones provide a bass reproduction perfectly tuned to the ribbons.

REAR SOUND RADIATION
The acoustic lenses diffuse the rear sound extensively, allowing you to place this dipole speaker in the room like a conventional loudspeaker.

LINE SOURCE RIBBONS
Natural voice reproduction is the supreme discipline in loudspeaker design. One particular challenge lies in the detailed reproduction of rapid impulses. Since our beginnings, we have relied on ribbon systems to master this task. In simple terms, a ribbon is a wafer-thin foil membrane that produces sound through its vibration. The originality lies in its combination with strong magnets, transforming it into the actual driver. The membranes are caused to vibrate evenly over the entire surface and can thus be kept extremely light. The lighter the membrane, the more precision.

The ribbons of the Master loudspeakers are designed with a linear source, the sound waves radiating along a straight line and spreading cylindrically into the room without bouncing off the ceiling or the floor. For the Master Line Source 3, we have arrayed as many as four ribbons vertically to form a genuine line.  Four ribbons, four times more passion!

The result: unparalleled accuracy that impresses even the most sensitive ears.

DIPOLE SYSTEM
The MLS 3 is a dipole speaker radiating to the front and the rear simultaneously, distributing the sound evenly throughout the room. The rear acoustic lenses ensure a completely diffuse sound field behind the speaker, allowing for the speaker to be placed close to a wall. This dipole system puts you right into the center of the musical action.
