When we created the DMS-700, we began thinking about a no holds barred version of the DMS capable of competing with the best of the best in Network Audio Players/Streamers/DACs. First, it would have to exceed the performance of the DMS-700 which is no small feat. After considerable research and design, the DMS-800 Professional Version (PV) was born.

The DMS-800 Professional Version (PV) is a limited-edition marvel. Simply put, the DMS-800PV is our ultimate expression of our famous DMS platform. If the DMS-700 is analog-like, the DMS-800PV IS analog. Bigger, deeper, wider, and smoother in sound, the DMS-800PV is capable of revealing the actual instruments within the recordings and not just the sound of the instruments. This allows for a more dimensional insight into the music, illuminating a more true-to-life sound. Inside, the DMS-800PV is a dual mono design, doubling most everything inside the renown DMS-700. While the DMS-700 utilizes a single digital/analog stage board with a single current output switched resistor 4 channel AK4499EQ DAC (equivalent to 4 DACs), the DMS-800PV uses separate right and left channel digital/analog stage boards. Each stage board has their own 4 channel current output switched resistor AK4499EQ DAC for a total of 8 individual DAC channels for a true fully balanced dual differential circuit. In addition, the DMS-800PV includes a Crystek Oscillator Clock, two separate DSP driver stages, 14 groups of independent regulated power supplies and two independent groups of analog stage regulation power supplies as well as other enhancements. The DMS-800PV has a larger 5” high resolution display and a slightly taller stance than previous DMS models. Inside the DMS-800PV is a marvel of circuitry design regarding power regulation and both digital and analog circuitry.

The DMS-800PV is also Roon Ready and MQA Certified. Like other DMS products, the DMS-800PV allows streaming from on-board TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, Spotify Connect, vTuner, or from files stored on a network computer or NAS Drive. If that wasn’t enough, it includes three (3) USB-A ports for listening from connected USB hard drives, flash drives, and even from a SD card. As an extra measure for convenience, the DMS-800PV also includes aptX™ HD input and output (output for Bluetooth speakers or headphones) as well as Airplay.

Additional features include Ethernet or Wi-Fi connectivity, TruBit™ 7-step Selectable PCM upsampling to 768kHz, and selectable PCM to DSD conversion with selectable 3-step DSD upsampling. One of the most common issues with operating today’s entertainment systems is the plethora of remote controls involved. Cary Audio has introduced a powerful new universal remote to control all of your electronic components easily and conveniently. It will operate up to ten different products, and is pre-programmed with IR codes for virtually all brands and models (over 230,000 devices). If something is missing you can teach the commands from the original remote to Cary Audio’s Universal Remote Control with the press of just a couple of buttons. It is also programmed with remote commands for all Cary Audio products ever offered (that use a remote), so you can easily integrate an older preamplifier, for example, into your new system.

To manage a complex system, it is important that a remote control operate the multiple components in a given order, automating the task of selecting a source and starting the music or movie. The Universal Remote Control provides 18 macros, each containing up to 20 steps from any of the ten controlled components. You can also set up ten sets of favorite channels so each family member can quickly find their favorite shows. These one-touch activity-based controls allow your family and friends to easily and intuitively turn on the entertainment they want.

 
This means despite the original sample rate of the MQA file, the MQA decoder will extrapolate the file to either a 705.6 or 768 kHz sampling rate for stunning realism and studio quality sound.  For non-MQA files, AiOS can stream or playback native PCM files up to 32 bit 384 kHz (.WAV files up to 768 kHz), plus DSD 64, 128, 256, and 512. Connect AiOS to your home network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and stream all of your digital music stored on your networked computer(s) or NAS drive(s) with simple plug N play UPnP, DLNA, and SMB connectivity. Also, available through your home network connection are integrated internet music streaming services, Spotify, TIDAL, vTuner, and others being added. For those that may find a home network connection too intimidating, AiOS allows you to insert a SD Card into the front SD Slot. You can also use a USB flash drive or USB hard drive loaded with digital music files directly to AiOS’ three USB-A inputs, all without a computer or network connection for direct playback! How about Bluetooth? Today, Bluetooth is ubiquitous and AiOS can certainly connect to your smartphone or tablet using the latest Qualcomm aptX© Bluetooth technology. However, AiOS has an extra trick up its sleeve. AiOS can SEND any of its selected sources to Bluetooth enabled headphones or speakers for a completely wireless music system.
